Prepare for Your Extension Install
Your extension appointment is almost here! A little prep beforehand helps create the best possible foundation for your new hair. Here’s everything you need to know before install day!
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
Come with clean, dry hair
Wash your hair the night before or morning of your appointment. Shampoo thoroughly, avoid conditioner, heavy masks, oils, leave-ins or styling products at your roots
Skip the self tanner + certain SPFS
Avoid self-tanner and SPF containing avobenzone around your neck, shoulders and chest before your appointment. These products can transfer onto extension hair and may cause peachy, pink or orange discoloration, especially on lighter extensions.
Wear something comfortable
Extension installs can be a longer appointment, so come comfy! A top that doesn't need to be pulled tightly over your head is ideal.
PLAN FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
Extension installs take a little extra time, so plan to settle in and get comfortable! Snacks, drinks + a phone charger are provided.
Want to work or watch something during your appointment? Bring your laptop + charger and headphones. And feel free to bring any favorite snacks or drinks of your own!
Please plan to be in the salon for approximately 1-5 hours.
Timing varies depending on your extension method and customized install.
YOUR FIRST 48 HOURS
Follow the washing/styling instructions given at your appointment.
Be gentle when brushing around your new extensions.
Sleep with your hair completely dry and loosely secured.
Some awareness or mild tenderness immediately after a new install can be normal, but extensions should never feel painfully tight.
AFTER YOUR INSTALL
Don’t worry about memorizing everything on day one! At your appointment, we’ll go over exactly how to care for your new extensions, and you’ll receive a full extension home-care guide to reference at home.
We’ll cover washing, brushing, styling, sleeping, products to avoid + everything you need to keep your extensions looking their best between appointments.
